I’ve had some really yummy desserts lately, so here’s a list of 10 new desserts to try.

Du Sel

Du Sel Bakery in Narrabundah creates a range of ‘Unreal’ desserts with cakes that look like fruit. The lemon is my favourite with grapefruit, mint and fresh cream inside – oh so refreshing.

Rasa Rosa banana fritters

For $8, you get a massive plate of huge round banana fritters in either honey and cinnamon, coconut and palm sugar, or grated cheese and condensed milk. You can find the Rasa Rosa stall at Verity Lane in the city.

XO strawberry pavlova

Ok so I don’t really like pavlova. It’s not something I ever order. But XO’s strawberry pavlova has changed me! It is the ultimate summer dessert – so fresh with white strawberry slices on top and an amazing sorbet. Get it in ya while it’s on the menu.

L’épi chocolate loaf

I love this chocolate loaf from L’épi Artisan Bakery at the Chisholm shops. The entire loaf is only $12 and it’s stuffed with chocolate and hazelnuts. You can actually see the chopped hazelnuts in the chocolate. If you love Nutella or Ferrero Rocher, this is a must try. I also like how it’s easy to pull apart, with ready to go slices. An idea for a work morning tea!

Oreo balls

Cakes in Jar is a small home business and has been around for a little while. As per the name, they make cakes in jars but they also offer oreo balls. I got a taste of oreo balls back in 2021, and ordered them for a 2022 Christmas party. These are basically cake balls that come in lots of different flavours. Pictured are the original oreo balls, and gingerbread balls. If you love chocolate, you need to try!

Le Bon Melange lamington cake

I took my family to Le Bon Melange and we bought a lot of cakes to try at home. Our favourite is the lamington cake – a three layer cake of lamington with jam and cream. So good!

Lolo and lola’s ice craze

An awesome dessert of snow ice, topped with fresh fruit and cream, this is similar to bingsu. I’ve tried the lychee version with coconut gel and fresh lychee which was so nice, but am really hoping they bring back the mango version for summer! I’m keeping an eye out on their socials for the announcement.

Little Sutton bakery

I really enjoyed the iced vovo lamington and the bread and butter pudding slice (warmed up and served with gelato). It’s not too far a drive from Canberra either and you might as well check out their breads and pies.

Alcove’s Fiery Gold

Part of the 5 course canapés degustation with matching cocktails/mocktails, this dessert of creamy pumpkin, coconut, citrus, cream and sweet potato is amazing. I’d highly recommend doing the degustation.

Short Eats’ milo cake

Short Eats‘ milo cake reminds me of a sans rival with layers of meringue and a light milo cream in between the layers. It’s actually not too rich and quite light making it very easy to finish off.
