On one of my walks around Lake Burley Griffin, I noticed a sign for the Sculpture Garden’s pop up summer cafe.I decided to walk to breakfast one morning to check it out. A white marquee is set up in the midst of the Sculpture Garden.

With an emphasis on fresh produce, $1 from every meal will be donated towards the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation, which teaches school children how to grow, harvest, prepare and share fresh seasonal food.

Sculpture Garden Canberra headsThat day, there were two The Fix cold pressed juices available. I chose the Detox juice with cucumber, zucchini, celery, romaine, parsley and rock melon.

Sculpture Garden The Fix detoxThe breakfast menu is split into children’s breakfast ($10) and grown up’s breakfast ($20). Both accompanied by tea, coffee or juice. The grown up’s menu is limited to only two items. That day, it was the macadamia granola or ham and fried egg on toasted brioche. There’s a different special each week (does not include a drink), and that week’s special of scrambled eggs with Pialligo Farm dry cured and smoked bacon, chives and toasted brioche sounded good to me. The serving of scrambled eggs was very generous, I couldn’t finish it all! Similar to the delicious bacon, which was thickly cut and plentiful.

Sculpture Garden pop up cafe eggsThe pop up summer cafe is expected to run until March. Breakfast is available Saturday and Sunday from 8-11am. Lunch available Wednesday to Sunday from 12-3pm. Take a walk through the Sculpture Garden while you’re at it.
