Note: I was invited to the launch of Verity Lane Market to sample the food, however all opinions are my own.

If you didn’t know, a new food hall in Civic has opened up called Verity Lane Market (as it’s on Verity Lane in the Sydney building). There are some outdoor tables and all the doors were thrown open making it a big indoor and outdoor space with a nice warehouse feel with exposed brick walls. We spot the long bar with a queue of other patrons waiting for a cocktail, beer or wine. Mr FPJ tried the Verity martini and the blood orange peach bellini on the night, while a berry mocktail was made up for me.

At this stage, there are three food vendors at the Verity Lane Market.

Pizza Artigiana

Pizza Artigiana is my favourite pizza joint in Canberra. We drive from home (Kingston) to Jamison (Belconnen) for the awesome pizza dough. So we’re both stoked that they’ve opened up a second albeit smaller shop much closer to home.

The pizzas are smaller at $12 each with a different menu to the Jamison shop. At the launch, the oven was still being trialed, but I thought the pizzas were equally good using the same dough recipe.

Project Enoki

The focus of Project Enoki is to bring Singaporean and South-East Asian flavours within a modern Australian setting. The menu is share-plate style with snacks, small plates and large plates.

We shared the steamed scallop with black pepper and hazelnut ($6 each), the peking pork pancakes ($10), the sole on the bone with sambal served on a banana leaf ($18) with a side of steamed rice ($4). I was warned by staff that the sole would have little bones in it so I appreciated that. The scallop was juicy and I liked the contrast in textures. The pork pancakes were pretty ordinary to be honest. The sole had some kick to it from the sambal and was soft but yes it was a little difficult eating around the bones.

It’s good to hear that Project Enoki change up their menu regularly. I really wanted to try this tom yum broth! Project Enoki are at Verity Lane Market until March 2021 at this stage.

Ramen Daddy

We always saw the Ramen Daddy pop up at The Forage, but now they have a place to call home. The menu has snacks such as a chicken katsu sando, or edamame, rice bowls, ramen of course, and dessert.

We tried the chicken katsu sando ($14) and this was SO succulent, juicy and thick, yet crispy on the outside, sandwiched between soft white bread and mayo. Highly recommend!

We also tried the pork ramen ($20) with pickled shiitake, soy egg and togarashi. It’s not the rich tonkotsu broth that I prefer, but with lovely smokey pieces of pork belly, it’s a decent enough ramen.

We also spot a sign for ‘Kiosk’ which had popped up in Kingston earlier in the year. Unsure if they are moving in or not. There’s also an upstairs to the Verity Lane Markets but it’s still hush hush on what that’s going to be used for.

Verity Lane is open Wednesday to Saturdays from 4.00pm – late.
