First time @ Autolyse

Autolyse, a popular bakery and cafe in Braddon, is a place I’ve been meaning to check out for nearly a year. I always hear great things about it but just never managed to get down there. I finally got some time to go early in the New Year. I had a look at the website […] Read more…

Dinner banquet @ Persian Mawlana

Some friends and I tried out Persian Mawlana in Dickson, located on the main strip of restaurants along Woolley Street. I can see the similarities between Persian and Afghan food with thick flat bread and rice with carrots and berries. The hot starters on the menu looked good – ashak (fresh pasta filled with scallions, […] Read more…

Papparich take 2 and 3

Some friends and I headed back to Papparich for dinner one weeknight. We got there at 6pm, however all diners must be present before a table is provided (I’m thinking that might only be the case on weekends). There was quite a queue from 6 and we only waited about 20 minutes after all diners […] Read more…

The Mandalay Bus – back in operation

The Mandalay Bus is open for business again! Located at the end of Lonsdale Street, at Haig Park, the double decker yellow bus is selling hot take away food (similar to Brodburger in its early days). I’ve been reading up on this place and it had previously been serving food to a variety of people […] Read more…

New bars to open @ the Kingston Foreshore

As I walk past the Kingston Foreshore, it’s exciting to see multiple shopfronts being fitted out for the new ventures about to open. A Canberra Times article lists all the new businesses, mostly restaurants, cafes and bars that are to open. I decided to do a bit more google-fu-ing into the bars that are opening […] Read more…

Coffee @ Farmers Daughter Canberra Centre

Farmers Daughter, a Yarralumla brunch spot, opened up a sister store in the Canberra Centre last week. Located under the escalators near Fitness First and Jamie’s Italian, the shop is quite small and only sells coffee, yummy looking pastries (macarons, tarts, croissants, pain au chocolat) and has a limited breakfast menu as there is no […] Read more…

Burrito @ Frank and Beanz

I was shopping out at Majura Park and stopped to have a quick lunch. I noticed Frank and Beanz – a shop selling hot dogs, burritos, quesadillas, nachos and more. It claims to be a gourmet, healthy, fast food alternative. I ordered a classic – the beef burrito ($10.50) consisting of beef chilli con carne, […] Read more…

Discovering Moochi frozen yogurt

Heading into Canberra Centre, I noticed that Moochi frozen yogurt had opened up opposite Big W. This is the fourth froyo shop to open up in Canberra (that I know of) after Yogurtland, Noggi and Nominom. Prices seem a little cheaper than Yogurtland (I spent nearly $10) where yogurt is charged by weight. At Moochi, […] Read more…

Christmas work lunch @ Delissio Brasserie

One of my work Christmas partyโ€™s was held at Delissio restaurant and bar in Curtin.ย  Iโ€™d been here on a few occasions previously (my partner adores their spicy fetta stuffed fried olives) and thought it was a relatively nice restaurant. A previous yearโ€™s Christmas party was also held there and a banquet was chosen as […] Read more…

A taste of Peru @ Cholo’s Peruvian Restaurant

Cholo’s Peruvian Restaurant opened up in Dickson in July. It’s been on my list ever since and I finally got an opportunity to try it out last week. The restaurant is very colourful inside with bright red walls, Peruvian textiles, and pictures of Peru. The salsa and cha cha music playing inside immediately puts me […] Read more…
