The Bearded Bean in Civic has been open for a couple of months and has made a huge impact to office workers close by. It’s always packed with people queuing up to place their coffee orders or grabbing a quick breakfast in the morning. One morning, I noticed a sign out the front advertising specialty […] Read more…
J and I happened to be in Tuggeranong on a Saturday afternoon and decided to have lunch at one of the eateries near the Hyperdome. Walking past the main restaurant strip on Anketell Street, we spotted Ace High Eatery & Bar which offered burgers, hot dogs, milkshakes and beer. That sounded good so we went […] Read more…
Note: I was invited to dine as a guest of Casey Jones, however all opinions are my own. The media launch of Casey Jones was held last week in the new suburb of Casey in Gungahlin. Locals are going to love the new gastropub in the neighbourhood and I am a tad jealous. The new […] Read more…
I am always reading about Tales of a Confectionist’s food trips to Jimmy’s Place in Dickson for mud crab. We finally got together with fellow foodies and our other halves for dinner on a Monday night. There were two styles served with the mud crab – an XO sauce on vermicelli noodles, or ginger and […] Read more…
Some friends and I caught up for lunch at Binny’s Kathitto in Braddon. Binny’s used to be in a small food van across the road at The Hamlet but recently expanded into its own store. As I walked up to the entrance, the large and heavy-looking glass sliding door was slid open by one of […] Read more…
J and I decided to head to Public in Manuka for brunch one weekend. I’ve been to Public on a few occasions, mainly during the evening with work colleagues but never for brunch. It was such a beautiful sunny morning that we left the car at home and walked to the Manuka shops instead. We […] Read more…
J and I headed to the new pub in Gungahlin, Young and Frisky, for a late lunch one weekend. Dubbed a fried chicken and whisky bar, Young and Frisky is the brain child of the owners of Hopscotch in Braddon. The menu includes a choice of burgers (including a fried tofu burger and prawn po […] Read more…
One Saturday afternoon, J and I walked around Dickson to find somewhere to have lunch. There are still so many places in Dickson I am yet to visit. We passed by Empire BBQ Cafe which I don’t remember seeing before. It replaced the upstairs food court that had been there for years. A glance at […] Read more…
A few months ago, J and I stayed with friends who live in Marrickville, Sydney, and they took us to brunch at a cafe down the road called West Juliett. By the time we go there, around 11am on a Saturday morning, the place was packed and there was already a list at the door […] Read more…
One of my work colleagues is a regular bruncher at the National Museum of Australia cafe which is catered by Broadbean Catering. I’m constantly told great things about it so on a free weekend, some friends and I organised a bike ride around the lake and brunch at the Museum cafe. I had made a […] Read more…
