Originating from the town of Otaru in Hokkaido, Japan, LeTao cheesecakes started delivering to Canberra.

Earlier in the year, I ordered LeTao’s seasonal special strawberry cheesecake and it is amazing! One of the lightest cheesecakes I’ve ever tasted. The strawberry is fresh and tastes like a strawberry smoothie mixed with Aussie cream cheese and topped with deliciously smooth Italian mascarpone and Hokkaido cream.

On another occasion, I ordered LeTao’s double chocolate cheesecakes (a best seller). Although there was a lot of chocolate on it, it seemed like a more bland kind of chocolate so it didn’t really do it for me. I do prefer the strawberry cheesecake to the chocolate as the strawberry has this amazing freshness to it. The double chocolate is a staple cheesecake, available all year round. The strawberry is seasonal, but that means I can wait until the next season comes around which is better for my waistline!

I must admit the cheesecakes are a lot smaller than expected, just slightly bigger than a supermarket brie cheese and cost around $39. It arrives frozen so you have the option to put it in the freezer for another day. An email is sent with instructions on how to enjoy your cheesecake. You can have it two ways – thaw for 2-4 hours for an ice-cream cake texture (this is my preference), or thaw for 4-8 hours for a softer creamy cheesecake texture (Mr FPJ’s preference).

I’ve ordered the matcha cheesecake (another seasonal variety) and the original fromage double (another best seller) for Father’s Day next month.

You can also try some biscuits from LeTao. The langue de chat cookies are filled with white chocolate and cheese – a strange combination but it works. My favourite are the Thénoir cookies of chocolate and darjeeling tea.

Ordering is easy from the LeTao website. Add products to your cart and pick a date for delivery. The only annoyance is the delivery time is anywhere from 9am to 9pm, so just make sure you pick a date where you’ll be home all day.
