Late last year, two friends and I booked into an afternoon high tea at Kynefin in Hall. This was my first time at Kynefin located on the corner of the main street. When I arrived, all the outdoor tables were full of people enjoying the warm Spring weather.
The afternoon tea is $45 per person and includes a tea or coffee. I had booked a table inside and was informed that it would take about 15 minutes for the food to arrive. Part of the reason I wanted to check out Kynefin was for its very cute mini picnic table setting that the food is displayed on, and it was a chance to finally try out the cafe.
A waitress took our drinks orders included in the afternoon tea, and it wasn’t long before the epic afternoon tea came out. All three serves were jam packed onto the mini picnic table.
Savoury goods included fries, sausage rolls (our vegetarian friend had a spinach and ricotta roll substitute), mini pies, and grilled tomato and cheese sandwiches. The sweet goods included Kynefin’s housemade bombolini doughnuts, a mini croissant/doughnut hybrid topped with oreo, scones with jam and cream, and rocky road.
There were also mini chocolate milkshakes and mini orange juices included.
Everything was delicious and I really wanted more of the grilled cheese sandwiches. My only minor complaint is that the scones were rock hard. We enjoyed the friendly service, the tasty food, the fact that a vegetarian diet can be provided, and the nice relaxing atmosphere at the cafe.
After posting these photos onto my Facebook page, it got noticed and an article published the UK Daily Mail! I’m glad that Kynefin’s afternoon high tea has gone global 🙂
