There is a lot of change coming to Kingston so I thought I’d put it all down from what I know.

Sushi Go

Kingston now has its own sushi train with Sushi Go opening recently. Plates range from $3 – $8. Apart from various nigiri and maki rolls, there are also bento boxes, donburi, udon noodle soup, and ramen. Unfortunately the ramen is nothing special and I found the broth lacking in flavour. The chashu on the other hand was amazing – well charred with a nice smoky flavour. I’m keen to go back for a donburi and more sushi plates.

You can find Sushi Go on Kennedy Street at the Kingston shops.

Mrs Kim’s Donuts

There is a banner hanging outside along Giles St advertising Mrs Kim’s Donuts, also selling pies, sausage rolls, cakes and coffee. Sounds like another old-school canteen style bakery, but I’m excited! Quite dangerous as it’s just down the road from me too…

Queenies

Another bar to replace the previous bar, and the bar before that on the corner of Giles and Kennedy Street. I believe it’s already open from the Queenies Kingston instagram stories, but haven’t actually walked past to confirm.

Lava Espresso

With locations in Weston, Phillip, and Civic, Lava is coming to Kingston located along Eyre Street in the new Atria apartment complex at the Kingston shops.

Due to open in November 2020.

Wildflour

The success of Wildflour in Fyshwick has allowed a sister store to open up in Kingston. This is another one on Eyre Street, next to the new Supabarn at the Atria apartment complex.
