I finally made it to Fun Guys at the Truffle Farm in Majura. A venture by the owner of Otis and the owner of the Truffle Farm, Fun Guys opened last year serving food out of a shipping container at the entrance of the Truffle Farm. I never made it out there last year, but finally got a chance to stop in a few weeks ago.

There are a few truffle-y items on the menu such as a beef or fried chicken truffle burger which I was meant to order, but I spotted the truffle tortellini on the menu and had to try it. The truffle tortellini ($15) comes with truffle cream, topped with parmesan cheese and I’m encouraged to stir it throughout the tortellini mix. It’s hot and lovely. Filled with mushroom, there’s a slight hint of truffle in the tortellini.

I also order the truffle loaded fries ($7) topped with aioli, some grated truffle and parmesan cheese. I’m impressed with the crunchiness of the fries, but they go cold quickly as I’m sitting outside in the cold.

The house made doughnut with truffle butterscotch ($7) takes about another 20 minutes after receiving the tortellini and fries. They are a little over cooked and quite crispy. Unfortunately I can’t taste truffle at all in the sauce which is more chocolate than butterscotch. It’s not too bad if you just want a crispy doughnut smothered in sauce.

I wouldn’t mind going back to try out the actual burgers – truffle butter, truffle mayo, and I think there may be shavings of truffle too! If you can finish it, there’s the Trufflesaurus Rex burger with 2x200g beef patties, truffle butter, lettuce, American-style cheese, bacon, truffle egg, truffle brie, truffle mayo and fresh truffle. Or an egg and bacon roll with truffle mayo.

Try to go early as there is a bit of a wait time on food. You can also purchase truffle itself from Fun Guys if you want to use it in your own cooking.

Fun Guys is located at the entrance to the Truffle Farm. It’s only open for the truffle season so get in quick.
