On a leisurely Saturday afternoon, J and I were meeting up with a few friends at the dog park in Yarralumla. I was hungry so we stopped by the Yarralumla Gallery and Oaks Brassierie for a bite to eat first. I had only been to the brasserie once previously where many scones with jam and […] Read more…
Teddy Picker’s Cafe is the latest eatery to join The Pedlar and Avenue C Wine Co at the Creswell apartment complex. The modern looking eatery has a spacious indoor and outdoor area with an upstairs lounge kitted out with a couch, bean bags and a record player. Tea is a focus at the cafe with […] Read more…
I’ve walked past Dobinson’s in the city multiple times, and bought several cakes to go, but always look at the chalkboard menu thinking I must dine in one day. One morning, a friend and I caught up for breakfast and I finally got to dine in at Dobinson’s. There’s a tiny space inside with some […] Read more…
Note: I was invited to dine as a guest of Lolo and Lola, however all opinions are my own. The popular Lolo and Lola by Waterhouse Bakers at Westside Acton Park recently introduced monthly pop-up dinners. I was kindly invited to the October dinner and didn’t know what to expect. The tables in the enclosed […] Read more…
Tucked away inside The Street Theatre near the ANU in Acton, is As You Like It Cafe & Bar. With tables scattered across the carpeted foyer of the theatre, the cafe is pretty spacious. I was pleased to see no hipster decor, just your sturdy table and chair, letting the food speak for itself. You […] Read more…
After a short walk through Braddon to get to the city, I noticed a new Italian eatery, Imperioso, had opened up on Lonsdale Street (formerly Farmer’s Daughter). The menu was limited to five pasta dishes, most of which were handmade gnocchi dishes (yum) and some Italian pastries and coffee. The eatery is tiny and only […] Read more…
I had heard about the famous Burmese Curry Place from friends that work in the city. The best and cheapest curry you will find in all of Canberra, I was told. As it’s only open Monday to Friday, it was never a place I could easily get to. Until now. I could smell the hit […] Read more…
A group of friends and I recently caught up for breakfast at Stand By Me in Lyons. I’d been there once before, about two years ago, so it was definitely time to make another visit. Bookings were not accepted on weekends, but we were advised to get there early as the cafe gets packed quickly. […] Read more…
Two Before Ten recently took over from the very short-lived 79&Fine in Civic. I managed to dine there when the Spring menu had just been introduced and found it quite hard to decide what to order. I was torn between two dishes – the confit ocean trout and the coffee pannacotta (mmm dessert for breakfast) […] Read more…
Replacing what was Mood Food in Braddon, is Black Sheep Bar & Grill. The fit out instead is basically the same with the addition of a funky art print of a ram on one wall. A friend and I headed there for breakfast to check it out. We were both greeted warmly upon entering and […] Read more…
