I’ve walked past Dobinson’s in the city multiple times, and bought several cakes to go, but always look at the chalkboard menu thinking I must dine in one day. One morning, a friend and I caught up for breakfast and I finally got to dine in at Dobinson’s. There’s a tiny space inside with some […] Read more…
Tucked away inside The Street Theatre near the ANU in Acton, is As You Like It Cafe & Bar. With tables scattered across the carpeted foyer of the theatre, the cafe is pretty spacious. I was pleased to see no hipster decor, just your sturdy table and chair, letting the food speak for itself. You […] Read more…
A group of friends and I recently caught up for breakfast at Stand By Me in Lyons. I’d been there once before, about two years ago, so it was definitely time to make another visit. Bookings were not accepted on weekends, but we were advised to get there early as the cafe gets packed quickly. […] Read more…
Two Before Ten recently took over from the very short-lived 79&Fine in Civic. I managed to dine there when the Spring menu had just been introduced and found it quite hard to decide what to order. I was torn between two dishes – the confit ocean trout and the coffee pannacotta (mmm dessert for breakfast) […] Read more…
Replacing what was Mood Food in Braddon, is Black Sheep Bar & Grill. The fit out instead is basically the same with the addition of a funky art print of a ram on one wall. A friend and I headed there for breakfast to check it out. We were both greeted warmly upon entering and […] Read more…
Replacing what was Tosoliniโs in Civic is newly opened Social & Co. The inside looks like a relaxed spacious bistro area with a large bar. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, you can see all food options in the one menu. The cuisine is a mix of Mediterranean/Italian with items like lamb souvlaki skewers, a […] Read more…
J’s parents live in Tuggeranong and told me about a new cafe at their local Chisholm shops that took over from an old bakery. Located right next to Coles, is newly opened The Public Place. Searching for whatever I could find on them, I saw very cute looking Pokeball cake pops on their Instagram page […] Read more…
The Bearded Bean in Civic has been open for a couple of months and has made a huge impact to office workers close by. It’s always packed with people queuing up to place their coffee orders or grabbing a quick breakfast in the morning. One morning, I noticed a sign out the front advertising specialty […] Read more…
Note: I was invited to dine as a guest of Casey Jones, however all opinions are my own. The media launch of Casey Jones was held last week in the new suburb of Casey in Gungahlin. Locals are going to love the new gastropub in the neighbourhood and I am a tad jealous. The new […] Read more…
J and I decided to head to Public in Manuka for brunch one weekend. I’ve been to Public on a few occasions, mainly during the evening with work colleagues but never for brunch. It was such a beautiful sunny morning that we left the car at home and walked to the Manuka shops instead. We […] Read more…
