We recently went to Hayman Island in the Whitsundays for a holiday. There is only one resort โ the Intercontinental Hayman Island Resort on the entire island. A buffet breakfast is included in our room rate and the buffet itself does not disappoint.
Breakfast is at the Pacific Restaurant. I did make breakfast reservations but there is no need to. On our first morning there, weโre asked for our room number and whether we’ve been there before. As itโs our first time, weโre given a quick tour of everything. Once seated, our coffee/tea order is taken and then itโs up to us to grab a plate and serve ourselves.
The buffet has everything โ one room for cold cuts, yoghurts, cereals, chia puddings, toast (including gluten free) and spreads, pastries like croissants and danishes, juices, fresh fruit, and a chocolate fountain. The hot foods are in the main dining area – scrambled eggs, an omelette station where you tick the ingredients youโd like on a little form and provide to the chef, hash browns, sausages, mushrooms, roast meat, soup, French toast, waffles, pancakes and all the toppings.
Here’s my Instagram reel walk-through below.

It is kid-friendly with plenty of high chairs available. We are also lucky enough to get an amazing table outside looking out at the beach and ocean. What a view!
Note: If sitting outside, be mindful of the cockatoos that are not shy at swooping down and grabbing a hash brown when you’re not looking!
And just because I can, here’s the view from our suite overlooking the pool (the biggest pool in the southern hemisphere!).
If interested, here’s a reel of the boat transfer to Hayman Island from Hamilton Island where champagne and canapรฉs are provided.
