Note: I was invited to The Alice Cocktail Experience as a guest, however all opinions are my own.
I recently went to Wonderland for 𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓐𝓵𝓲𝓬𝓮: 𝓪𝓷 𝓲𝓶𝓶𝓮𝓻𝓼𝓲𝓿𝓮 𝓬𝓸𝓬𝓴𝓽𝓪𝓲𝓵/𝓶𝓸𝓬𝓴𝓽𝓪𝓲𝓵 𝓮𝔁𝓹𝓮𝓻𝓲𝓮𝓷𝓬𝓮.
Located at Zoo Bar in the city, we’re first met by the Mad Hatter 
at the door and told to go upstairs. We’re then met by March Hare 
, and White Rabbit
and shown to our tables. The entire floor looks like Wonderland with a mixture of bric-a-brac. It’s like something out of a cool second-hand shop – couches, chairs, lamps, books, padlocked boxes, candles, tea pots and tea cups. Everything is perfectly mis-matched and then there’s a cheshire cat with glowing eyes that speaks.
I listen to the Mad Hatter and eat a cupcake with ‘Eat Me’ on top. The Mad Hatter tells us we need to get our diploma in tea-making studies by moving throughout the room to solve riddles and puzzles, opening padlocked boxes before finding the ingredients to make out cocktails/mocktails.
In our session, the March Hare makes our drinks. Each teapot holds enough for two people – my friend has the cocktail while I have the mocktail version, so March Hare informs us that we only get the premixed drinks which is disappointing as I thought we could mix them ourselves. The 18+ sessions seem to have the better cocktail making sessions where you get to mix your ingredients with dry ice in your teapot.
There’s an appearance from the Queen of Hearts and we receive our second cocktail/mocktail which are both topped with whipped meringue. With my little ink-well filled with chocolate syrup and paint brush, I compete in a contest to draw the best artwork on my mocktail, judged the by Queen of Hearts herself. Unsurprisingly, I did not win for my artwork! (I also blame the dodgy paint brush).
Due to my schedule and the times available, I chose a day-time family friendly session starting at 1pm. The family friendly sessions allows you to take someone under 18 for a mocktail experience. My friend and I were the only adults without little ones in tow at our session. I think kids will love it!
It’s a unique immersive experience with interaction with the actors. I must admit the cocktails/mocktails themselves are not great (I only took sips from both), but the experience itself is certainly out of the ordinary.
