Note: I was invited as a guest of Bitten Good Foods by the Australian Good Food Guide, however all opinions are my own.
Bitten Good Foods in Braddon is all about organic, fresh and wholesome foods catering to paleo, keto, vegetarian, vegan and other diets. It’s also free of refined sugar.
There’s an entire page of drinks with ingredients that I didn’t even know you could put into a drink – maga, collagen, microalgae, paleo protein etc.
We tried the ‘Go Getter’ smoothie with banana, dates, cashews, maca, chaga, golden cookie crumbs, Himalayan salt, almond milk and vegan paleo protein. It tasted like a crushed up cookie in drink form! The ‘Scoffee’ had salted caramel and vanilla coconut ice cream with a double shot, coconut and almond milk, topped with cacao nibs over ice. Basically an affogato with salted caramel and crunchiness on top. Yum!
The super-mushroom ragu stack comes on your choice of bread (Three Mills sourdough / paleo / low carb / vegan gluten-free) with your choice of butter (organic grass-fed / vegan cultured butter). There is a generous portion of thick ragu topped with some chilli flakes. We both love mushrooms so this was enjoyable but I think it needed some eggs to go with it (additional cost).
The Sri Lankan curry bowl comes with brown rice, green malum (stir fry of kale, broccoli, coconut, turmeric, mustard seeds and more), topped with a coconut yoghurt raita. We also asked to add poached chicken to the dish (additional cost) which was so tender and delicious. This all came served in a huge bowl. As I’m not vegan or vegetarian, the curry obviously lacked in the creaminess that I enjoy. But it was still tasty with various herbs and spices. Lean and healthy too!
Bitten Good Foods provides very generous servings and the staff are very knowledgeable about all the ingredients catering to different diets. E.g. You can swap out certain items if you’re on a keto/paleo diet.
Apart from the cafe, Bitten Good Foods also has a supermarket section where you can buy all things organic such as fresh vegetables, hair and skin products, make up, spreads and chutneys, chocolate, nuts and more.
I’m not vegan or on any of these various diets, but I think it’s great to have a place that caters for everyone. I’m also surprised by how tasty it actually was. Good options if you are vegetarian/vegan or dieting and just need something lean and clean.
Thanks to Bitten Good Foods and the Australian Good Food Guide for having us.
