The Mill House Cafe in Queanbeyan is located in the historic mill house built in 1883.
The actual cafe is located towards the back. Seating is on the back deck or yard with one small table indoors.
It looks a little run down, but I would be too if I was 130 years old.
I ordered the Farmers Breakfast ($14). You can have the eggs fried or scrambled. The bacon was soft and not crispy, but I like that. The little chipolata snags were tasty. Everything was pleasant but very average. Something I could easily make myself at home.
I ordered my usual soy mocha ($3.50) which was nice and cheap, probably the cheapest I’ve ever seen.
Service is friendly and the food and coffee came out quickly. Located next to the Riverside Plaza on a busy street, the yard is surrounded by trees and greenery to hide most of it away. You can still hear the traffic but this can be forgotten with good company.
I didn’t find the farmers breakfast amazing, but I might go back for some pancakes and a smoothie.
