The latest Lonsdale Street Roasters project, Remedy, opened up at the Kingston Foreshore in late December. Remedy only offers coffee and some pastries – no cooked food. This provides some strong competition, mainly for 38 Espresso, and for the other cafes offering coffee.
I headed there on their first day of trade for 2014. Opposite C Dine Bar, Remedy is fitted into a tiny nook in the back corner of the Aurora apartments (closest building to the lake).
The space is only big enough to hold the main counter, coffee machine and a few pastries with a small sink and bench along another side. A cold drip sits next to the coffee machine – I’d love to try that on a hot day. There is also a massive wooden canoe hanging near the entrance which looks pretty cool.
There are a few benches, small tables and crates scattered around for those wanting to sit outside.
I love the personalised wooden tables with the LSR label embedded into it.
I ordered a small soy mocha ($4), however, didn’t specify that I wanted to sit in so it came in a take away cup. I sat out on one of the benches in the sun, but it was scorching after a few minutes so I moved to the other side in the shade of the building. A few magazines and newspapers are scattered around the place so I enjoyed my coffee while reading.
Reasonably priced and great coffee! I think it will do very well here. Check out their vimeo.
