While in Perth, I had to try the ‘Little Mostro’ (little monster in Italian) gelato at Jersey Jack Gelato in Como. For $15, you get 3 scoops of gelato of your choice (all freshly made on site), a mini cone of whipped cream, a mini cone of liquid dark chocolate, and a few other trimmings. I chose matcha, tiramisu and espresso gelato on mine. It looked amazing! And the gelato tasted fantastic. My favourite was the tiramisu closely followed by the matcha and espresso. I was really happy with my choices.
Not wanting to miss out, my sister ordered her own ‘Little Mostro’ choosing mango, lemon lime and bitter, and pear, fig and vanilla gelato. She was also very pleased with her choices but her favourite was the mango.
The flowers on the gelato were edible but we left them aside. We each received spoons and a plate as it does get a little messy. The ‘Little Mostro’ is available Friday to Sundays only. If it’s sugar/gelato overload for you, a single scoop will set you back about $5.50.
I noticed that there was durian gelato advertised but only available on Saturdays and Sundays. Whole tubs of gelato can be purchased for $20. Staff were polite and allowed us a few tastings of various gelato flavours before purchasing. Other items on the menu include crepes, a donut sandwich and a waffle tower with 3 scoops of gelato!
Jersey Jack Gelato can be found at 20 Preston Street in Como. Open Tuesday to Sunday.
