Bunny Beans Night Dessert Café

Note: I was invited to dine in as a guest, however all opinions are my own.

You may have tried Bunny Beans for breakfast and lunch (at the Kippax and Greenway locations). Well the Kippax store is now open in the evenings as a dessert café! Open from 5pm – 11pm for your late night dessert fix.

Think bingsu and brick toast, milkshakes and lattes, as well as specialty drinks.

We start off with some of the specialty drinks (all under $10) – the Earl of Apples with earl grey tea, apple juice and rose syrup, and the Snow Mountain Rose with coconut water, green tea, rose syrup and salted cream cheese. The Snow Mountain Rose seemed nice to begin with as I love anything rose-flavoured, but the salted cream cheese didn’t really mix well so I left the last half of the drink.

We try the ube bingsu ($22.90) with strawberry coulis, coconut strings, condensed milk, salted cream cheese and vanilla icecream. The bingsu arrives on the table wrapped in a plastic ring, which is pulled up for the dessert to ooze out (best to see the reel below!) The bingsu itself is soft and creamy, melting slowly overtime into a little puddle on the plate. Best to eat it as soon as it lands on the table. I thought the strawberry coulis addition would make it too sweet but it’s actually quite balanced. Great for taro lovers out there.

The mango brick toast comes with diced mango, mango puree, vanilla ice cream, salted cream cheese and whipped cream. I love mango so I do enjoy this. The brick toast has crispiness on the outside, and is a soft brioche on the inside – no complaints. We also try the matcha brick toast with red bean, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. I find it well balanced even with the added matcha sauce which isn’t too sweet. I wonder if it could be improved with some matcha gelato!

I end with the tiramisu whisper specialty drink with a lady finger sponge on top, which is oh so creamy and delicious. My mistake was not asking for decaf that evening, so I couldn’t finish it. But I would order this again in a heart beat.

Visit Bunny Beans in Kippax for your late night dessert option north-side, and support a local business. Best to make a booking as it got pretty packed during the weekend. Open Thursday-Saturdays.

Here’s a reel of the experience:
