I caught up with some friends for brunch at the Elk & Pea in Braddon. It was busy when we got there, with people queuing up outside the door. Luckily we’d booked a table.
We were shown inside to our table. First thing I noticed was the huge bird cage like sculpture/ornament with a table inside. Quirky! And the stuffed peacocks scattered around the place.
Then the paintings tacked to the ceiling.
I decided on the paprika spiced eggs ($17) which ended up being very oily, rich and heavy. The bread was also a bit too burnt for my liking.

My friends did seem to enjoy their respective dishes.

the omelette (a huge serving!) |
The cafe had a great vibe and was bustling with people. I really quite like the funky decor inside. Service was also very friendly. I’d order something else next time, maybe the smashed avocado and shrooms (they looked good). Overall, a nice brunch spot worth checking out.
