The Beach Burrito Company has opened! I arrived to a massive queue that hardly moved during the 12.30 Friday lunch rush. The place was packed both indoors and outdoors.
The whole place is decked out in bright splashes of colour with some funky decor, like their skull style chandelier.
I like how they’ve incorporated a bit of nature inside with hanging baskets of plants. There are lots of wooden tables with stools, booths and more tables at the back and an outdoor eating area.
There’s heaps on the menu. For starters they do nachos and chilli fries. For mains, they do tacos, burritos, burrito bowls, enchiladas, fajitas, chimichangas, quesadillas, and salads. For dessert – churros with chocolate sauce and whipped cream! They are fully licensed (no BYO) and also serve frozen cocktails, sangria, 10 types of tequila and buckets of beer.
It was hard deciding what to have. I finally decided to try one of their ‘world famous’ fajitas – the Pibil pork, mmm…At $21.95 it’s quite steep. It’s basically what’s in the burrito ($15.95) plus spicy fajita salsa, topped with cheese, corn chips, guacamole and sour cream. I noticed the burritos at the next table (a much thinner version than what I had) were served wrapped in foil, in a cute red basket.
So in summary, the atmosphere was lively and happy and there’s plenty on the menu. Perhaps don’t go during the lunch rush unless you have the time to spare. Besides the fajita being a bit colder than I would like, I was satisfied with it. But I’m not sure if it’s worth $21.95.
