Yum cha @ Akiba

Akiba recently introduced yum cha on weekends between 11-3. I was interested to see what it would be like so I booked an outdoor table with some friends. The yum cha menu that day (below) looked like the regular Akiba menu but shorter. This was confusing – what was the yum cha aspect? Thankfully our […] Read more…

Introducing the Duffin

There’s the cronut, and now there’s the duffin. A half donut half muffin. The duffin is filled with Nutella chocolate and dusted with icing sugar. I heated this up in the microwave for about 15 seconds just to make the chocolate a little warm and gooey. This was soooo good! Where can you get it? […] Read more…

Oasis Summer menu @ Koko Black

*I dined as a guest of Koko Black. All opinions are my own. Koko Black introduced its new Summer Oasis menu and kindly invited me to check it out. I’m a huge fan of Koko Black and always book into its Winter Evenings of Indulgence each year. At 4pm on a Sunday, the cafe located […] Read more…

The Double Down Diner @ Sydney Festival 2015

Gelato Messina’s advertising of its collaboration with Porteno for the Sydney Festival led me to book a day trip to Sydney. The result of the collaboration is The Double Down Diner. There were two items I was interested in from Messina’s Tasty Treats. The ‘Not Chicken and Waffles’ ($10) which looks like deep fried chicken […] Read more…

2 for 1 tapas @ The Rum Bar

Since my first visit to The Rum Bar at the Kingston Foreshore, I’ve been back a few times for drinks and tapas with friends. When I heard that 2 for 1 Tapas had been introduced on Tuesday nights (Toofer Tuesdays), and there was a new chef AND a new summer menu, I couldn’t wait to […] Read more…

Japanese dining @ LiloTang

The latest venture by the Chairman Group (Chairman & Yip, Malamay, Lanterne Rooms) is LiloTang in Barton, offering modern Japanese cuisine. Headed by chef Shunsuke Ota (formerly of Nobu Melbourne), there was much anticipation of this restaurant opening. I have been teased by photos on social media and had my first taste of binchotan (charcoal) […] Read more…

The much loved Frugii gelato and sorbet can now be found at the Frugii Dessert Laboratory on Lonsdale Street in Braddon. It opened its doors today in the brand new Ori apartment building (other Lonsdale Street Traders shops such as Moxom and Whitney and Handsomepretty are also open there). For those unfamiliar with Frugii, no […] Read more…

Desserts by Christine Manfield @ Eightysix

Earlier this month, and for two nights only, Eightysix let one of Australia’s culinary ambassador’s Christine Manfield take over its kitchen and provide diners with her wonderful desserts from her latest book Dessert Divas. Dessert is my favorite part of any meal so I immediately made a booking when I found out. Our table of […] Read more…

Lunching @ Marble & Grain

The latest eatery to open up in the Braddon precinct is Marble & Grain at the newly opened Avenue Hotel. From its name, and emblem of a cow in a suit pouring a glass of wine, it’s safe to suspect there to be a menu filled with meat and wine. My partner and I are […] Read more…

Bagel craving @ Bean & Grain (Dickson)

Did you know that Bean & Grain has opened another cafe in Dickson? The cafe is much larger than its Fyshwick counterpart which is still in operation Thursdays to Sundays at the Fyshwick Fresh Food markets. I found out there’s even a Bean & Grain Express shop on King Street in Deakin. The Dickson cafe […] Read more…
