Last Friday, 38 Espresso on the Kingston Foreshore sold a limited number of Melbourne’s butterbing cookie sandwiches. I headed down there around 9.30am, and must have bought the last few butterbings. The two flavours available that day were salted caramel and peanut butter ($5.50 each).

Butterbings

I loved the soft dark chocolate cookie. The softness made it very easy to bite into without it being too crumbly. The salted caramel buttercream (top) and the peanut butter buttercream (bottom) were both rich and so creamy. The buttercream to cookie ratio was also spot on. I must admit, trying out both was a little heavy for breakfast and they are bigger than they look. Luckily I only had half of each and took the other halves away in a take away bag for later.

Butterbings are gluten free (but not coeliac guaranteed). You can also stock up on them as they keep for 5 days in the refridgerator.

Don’t worry if you missed out, there will be another batch coming to 38 Espresso this week! Keep a look out on their Facebook and Instagram account for the details.

38 Espresso can be found right on the Kingston Foreshore. Open seven days for breakfast and lunch from 7am, and 8am weekends. They’ve also recently launched fish and chip nights on Friday and Saturday nights.
