A new eatery focused on healthy food, Nutrition Station, has opened in Braddon. This used to be a small shop inside Fitness First in the Canberra Centre, and has now expanded to its own separate cafe. The all day menu is quite extensive making it a little difficult to decide on what to eat! For breakfast, there are beautiful breakfast bowls, chilli eggs, smashed avocado, a variety of protein pancakes (mmm pancakes) and more. For lunch, there are burgers including naked burgers, salads, and healthy wraps, as well as a ‘Create Your Own Meal’ where you begin by picking a protein, add on a side dish etc. I ordered the Yogi Berry smoothie ($9.95) with mixed berries, coconut water, Greek yoghurt, chia seeds, banana and honey. I found the yoghurt dominated the smoothie and thought it was rather overpriced for what it was. My other two friends also ordered smoothies but I’ve forgotten which ones they ordered.

I decided on the Angus beef burger ($13.95) with grilled lean beef pattie, tomato, salsa, smashed avocado, and beetroot on a wholemeal bun. I also added a side of sweet potato fries ($4). The burger was huge and had a nice weight to it. The Angus beef pattie was thick and juicy. The wholemeal bun was soft and held all the fillings well. The burger tasted clean and healthy. It was great! Big tick for the sweet potato chips – thin, crispy, lightly seasoned and delish.

A friend ordered the habanero beef wrap ($13.95) which came with a large side salad. He loved the tender beef and the spicy habanero.

Another friend ordered the grilled vegetable wrap ($12.95).

Orders were taken and paid for at the front counter. Service was fast with our smoothies arriving shortly after ordering, and our food not too long after that. We were checked on a little while later asking what we thought of our meals. The others were pleased with their wraps and we all agreed that we must return to try more things on the menu. I’d like to go back for breakfast and try the chilli eggs and the pancakes (4 stack pancakes!). It’s great to see another cafe focused on healthy clean eating.

Nutrition Station is at 10 Lonsdale Street in Braddon. Open seven days from 7am-7pm.
