What used to be the Kingston Grind has been made over with a new look and new name – Raven & Rose. What immediately grabbed my attention was the gorgeous mural on the wall.
I was dining solo for Saturday morning breakfast and was pleased to see an all day menu. Prices were average for the Kingston area with the most expensive items priced at $18. There was a good range of items and I was torn between the bacon and pulled pork eggs benny with Turkish bread and the mixed berry French toast. The sweet tooth side of me won. I started off with a soy mocha ($4.50) and enjoyed its chocolate and coffee balance.
The mixed berry French toast ($16) with seasonal fresh fruits, maple syrup and vanilla ice cream was a generous serving. I loved the thick cut of toast and that it wasn’t swimming in maple syrup. The small meringue puffs were a cute sugary addition to the plate. There was a good variety of fresh fruit to help offset all those calories too.
At the time of dining early on a Saturday morning, there was only one other occupied table dining in so I found service was very quick. The atmosphere was pleasant with some light music playing in the background. It was just nice to chill and people-watch as other brunchers made their way to meet friends and check out the other nearby cafes. There were seats outdoors if you wanted to get some vitamin D from the sunshine. A couple of people grabbed take away coffees and pastries from the front counter.
