Teddy Picker’s Cafe is the latest eatery to join The Pedlar and Avenue C Wine Co at the Creswell apartment complex. The modern looking eatery has a spacious indoor and outdoor area with an upstairs lounge kitted out with a couch, bean bags and a record player.

Tea is a focus at the cafe with specialty teas on the menu (from Canberra-based Tea Garden Co). It was the first time I’d seen the multiple use of tea bag teas listed on a menu to get more out of your tea. I got there after the lunch time rush on a weekday to find the place had emptied out so I could enjoy the quiet airy space. The short all day menu had items like French toast, Teddy’s Whopper – a two beef pattie burger and healthier options with lots of sides to choose from. I started with a house made cold pressed juice, the red juice of watermelon, strawberry, beetroot and pineapple ($7). I thought it was great value for money, the bottle was huge and I forgot to ask how many millilitres there were…perhaps 500ml. Easily shared between two.

I wasn’t that hungry and decided on the shredded chicken tacos ($17.90) with salsa verde, kale, pickled corn, cucumber, pepitas, coriander, and lime crema in a corn tortilla. I received two open tacos on the plate. The light lunch hit the spot with a great mix of cold ingredients making it quite refreshing. The lime gave it a bit of zestiness. The tortilla was slightly crispy on the edges too.

For coffee lovers, cold brew coffee is also available with cupping sessions available to the public in the near future. Teddy Picker’s also makes house made jams and chutneys that are available for purchase.

For dog owners, there’s even a little dedicated dog bar outside so you can bring your furry friends along with you.

Considering I was the only person dining in at the time, service was great – I was greeted as soon as I walked in, seated, provided with the menu and tap water, and asked for a drink order. There’s a casual relaxed vibe to the area and I thought it was a great place to chill out after getting back from overseas. I also loved the music playing in the background – some old school soul.

Teddy Picker’s Cafe can be found on 65 Constitution Avenue, Campbell. Open seven days a week for breakfast and lunch.
