Feeling slightly peckish before heading to the movies at Westfield Belconnen, I spotted some sweet dumplings at Tasuke located on the ground floor just opposite Coles. All $2 each in their own box, I tried the tiramisu dumpling and Sakura rice dumpling. These are kind of similar to mochi with the use of sticky glutinous rice.

The Sakura rice dumpling is filled with red bean paste and covered in a vine leaf. Didn’t like the vine leaf but I couldn’t get it off as the dumpling is super sticky. I don’t think it went well with the dumpling – it looked good but didn’t add anything to it. I mostly tried eating around it as neatly as I could. My mum loves red bean and I know she’d love this.

The tiramisu was much lighter and fluffier with cream and a coffee liquid inside, then dusted with cocoa powder outside. Different. I had to be quick to not let the coffee spill out everywhere. A clever idea but I prefer the real tiramisu.

I thought these were cute and cheap little snacks but I don’t think I’d buy them again. I hear good things about the other Japanese meals on the menu but wasn’t hungry enough to try it. Next time!
