As I walk past the Kingston Foreshore, it’s exciting to see multiple shopfronts being fitted out for the new ventures about to open. A Canberra Times article lists all the new businesses, mostly restaurants, cafes and bars that are to open. I decided to do a bit more google-fu-ing into the bars that are opening soon.

The Rum Bar – the fit out is looking good with dark wooden bar tables already installed out the front. As with most other restaurants, they are taking advantage of being on the waterfront. Rum Bar will be a stylish upmarket 5 star rum/cocktail/pinchos (tapas) bar. The Rum Bar will apparently be offering 300 types of rum and other specialty drinks. Seems like they will be using fresh produce and cook food from scratch for their gourmet tapas which is awesome. Their website is still being developed.

Walt & Burley – I found a blurb on this place, located right on the corner of the apartment blocks opposite C Dine Bar with some great unobstructed views of the lake. ‘Walt & Burley is Kingston’s newest up-market food and drink venue, likely to become a Canberra icon, specialising is quality food and drink, superb service and even offers a funky fresh food take-way outlet. An extremely eye-pleasing high quality fit-out and unique business model combine to create a relaxing environment that bathes in the breathtaking views of Lake Burley Griffin.’ I think this is opening around February 2014.

Then you’ve got the already opened spots such as C Dine Bar that has Friday arvo happy hour and $1 oysters.

Looking forward to the new openings!
