A friend and I headed to Jimmy’s Saigon Vietnamese Restaurant in the city on Friday night. It replaces Oishi inside the Garema Centre.

I had the stir fried beef vermicelli with mixed salad and fish sauce ($14). The beef was delicious and cooked in a yummy slighty spicy sauce. Kind of like Thai beef salad with noodles. Yum! Reminds me of what mum would cook for us at home. It would actually be a simple dish to replicate – boil some vermicelli noodles which are pretty cheap, make a small salad, stir fry some beef and onion and add fish sauce.

My friend had the pho with rare beef and tripe ($12) which she enjoyed.

The food comes out fast (we were in and out within half an hour before we had to head to another function). It’s pretty good value for money and there’s plenty on the menu.

On a separate occasion, my friend went back and mentioned the staff kept asking if she was ready to order while she was waiting for a friend. It was so frustrating for her that she had to walk out.

I guess this shows that they want you in, then out, and fast. Nothing wrong with that if you want a quick feed. But it’s probably not the best place to sit and chat for hours.
