I’d been wanting to try this place out for ages and finally had an opportunity on a Sunday afternoon. Great thing about Mocan and Green Grout is that its open for brunch both Saturday and Sunday which is quite rare for cafés in Civic.

The cute and quirky little café reminds me of the cafés you find in Melbourne’s hidden alleyways. It’s quite tight inside and they don’t take bookings so I’d recommend going either really early or late (they close at 4pm on weekends).

I sat up at the counter, which was filled with fresh ingredients and bowls/jars of all sorts of things, where I got to watch the guys cook and serve their food.

I ordered the Tripoli baked eggs with yogurt, hummus and radish.

The egg yolk broke into yummy gooeyness and when paired with yogurt, provided a nice hearty meal. The radish was thinly sliced and provided some crunch to the dish. Wish there was a bit more bread to dunk into it.

I love the fact that they have their own garden outside!

Mocan and Green Grout are also open for dinner. Will need to try it out soon 🙂
