The Peppered Prawn in Woden is a short walk from my work. Located on the ground floor of the Sky Plaza, the restaurant specialises in seafood. The menu looked pretty enticing so I suggested lunch here with a work colleague.

There are tables outside although the view and noise is not the best. You’re basically looking out onto the busy road with cars trying to reach Hindmarsh Drive or the Westfield Woden car park.  The nice thing about the inside of the restaurant is that there is a lot of natural light coming in, adding to the nice relaxed atmosphere.

There’s quite a lot of fish dishes available on the blackboard menu. I ordered the home made gnocchi with tiger prawns. As soon as the dish was set in front of me, I could smell the beautiful flavours and knew it would be a fantastic dish. I wasn’t disappointed. The sauce was delicious – full of flavour and cheese. The gnocchi was wonderfully fresh (yay for handmade pasta!) and cooked to perfection. The portion was on the small side with 5 prawns (which is actually more than other places). However, my stomach was nicely filled towards the end.

My friend ordered the pork belly which wasn’t as moist as other restaurants can make it, but he still enjoyed it.

We only saw one waiter during the lunch service who was polite and efficient. There weren’t many other people in the restaurant.

Overall, a nice casual lunch. I noticed they also do an early bird dinner ($35 for 2 courses) which I will review a bit later on.
